Many people ask me why I tend to paint landscapes with little emphasis on animals and humans. The answer is simple: I don't want to paint people. If anything, I'm trying to get away from them when I'm painting! Painting allows me to express my deep emotions and inner thoughts. Paintings allow me to depict my inner world and communicate something more profound. When my paintings are able to touch other people, I can't help but feel that it's a great act of empathy. The ultimate message to the viewer that we are not so different or alone in this life. Connecting with others and giving their minds a sense of pleasure and peace is a great honor that I try not to take for granted.
Many of my paintings are based on my scenes straight out of my imagination, but I also enjoy exploring the real world and taking reference photos to work from. I actively try to paint plein air (outdoors) whenever I can. My dream is to further develop my skills and teach students around the world through workshops of all sorts. If I can encourage and empower other artists to express their inner truths and find freedom through pigment and water, then that really is the best use of my time. Honestly, I seem to have a lot of dreams when it comes to creating! My heart is always filled with enthusiasm just thinking what the future could bring!
In my spare time, I love to write poetry, meditate, read, explore nature, investigate strange mysteries, listen to all types of music, and indulge in cinematic flicks. I wait eagerly for rainy days, enjoy dancing like a total weirdo when no one's looking, cry too easily at cheesy movies, and sing show tunes whilst driving my cats crazy. Mostly, I like to eat food and sleep though. Might as well be honest.
